Meemu Atoll was the highlight of our Maldives trip! We stayed at Medhufushi Island Resort and were amazed by the pristine beaches and incredible marine life. The shark diving experience was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure - seeing reef sharks up close in crystal clear water was breathtaking. What makes Meemu special is how untouched it feels compared to other parts of the Maldives. We visited a local island (Muli) and had an authentic cultural experience, interacting with locals and learning about traditional fishing methods. The food was incredible too - fresh seafood prepared in traditional Maldivian style. If you want to experience the "real" Maldives away from the crowds, Meemu Atoll is a must-visit!
We chose Meemu Atoll for our honeymoon because we wanted something different from the typical Maldives experience, and we weren't disappointed! Staying at Medhufushi gave us a perfect mix of luxury and seclusion. The diving was exceptional - we saw reef sharks on almost every dive, and the coral reefs were vibrant and healthy. The seaplane journey from Male was an experience in itself with breathtaking aerial views of the atolls. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that there were occasional brief power outages on the island, but they were quickly resolved and didn't impact our overall experience. Highly recommend for those looking to see a different side of the Maldives away from the crowds!
